Claude "Laverne" Williams, 86, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Sterling House. He was born December 23, 1928, in Evansville, IN to the late Stoy and Beulah (Phillips) Williams.

He retired from Whirlpool in 1989 after 41 ½ years of service. He served with the 11th Airborne in the Army during WWII and was a member of the Hadi Shrine, Blue Lodge of Masons, Free Masons, Scottish Rite, and VFW Post #1114. He enjoyed bowling, golf, attending Otters baseball games and watching NASCAR. He also loved fishing and hunting.

Laverne was preceded in death by his wife, Montana Marie Williams; and his parents.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret (Richard) Sandford; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, March 30, 2015, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Terry Gamblin, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will conduct graveside services. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
